MPEGPlayer，可以分離影片與聲音的影片播放軟體，可以擷取VCD或mPG檔案的特定畫面，還可以擷取某一段或者整個影片儲存到硬碟中。更厲害的是，MPEGPlayer 還可以分離影片和聲音的部分，以及將好幾段影片接在一起。
TMPGEnc，也可做到影音音效分離。(freeware)
VCDCutter，除了剪輯，更可以轉檔。可以將影片分割為MIV(影像部份）和MP3。

VirtualDub，可用來剪接、編輯電影短片，檔案如 AVI、MPG 等。功能非常強大，不輸 Primiere、Media Studio 等軟體，(GPL)
多媒體轉檔

DVD2AVI，將 VOB 檔案轉成 MPEG4/MP3 格式，轉檔速度相當快。(GPL)
EO-Video，可以轉換與播放 RM, ASF, WMF, AVI, MPEG , MOV, WMA, WAV, MP3 檔...的超強軟體工具。
StreamBox Ripper，可以將 rm, ra, wav, cda, mp3 格式的音效檔或 audio cd 轉換成 mp3, wma, wav 格式。
Tinra，可將 RealMedia (.rm、.ram、.ra) 檔轉成 AVI 檔。轉換的品質雖不夠令人滿意，但不失為一個方法。但是，使用者需安裝有 RealPlayer G2 以後的版本才行。Tinra 是一個 Dos 下的程式，所以我們必需利用 Dos 指令來執行它。用法如 tinra file:aaa.rm bbb.avi 即可。(Freeware) (for Win)
TinraGUI，用來讓 Tinra 操作更方便的圖形使用者介面，對於不習慣下 Dos 指令的使用者來說，Tinra 轉檔不會再那麼麻煩。

Winamp，一個非常著名的音樂播放軟體，支援 MP3, MP2, MOD, S3M, MTM, ULT,XM, IT, 669, CD-Audio, Line-In, WAV, VOC 等多種音頻格式。 可以自訂界面 skins， 支援增強音頻視覺和音頻效果的 Plug-ins。
xmms，外觀類似 WinAmp，可以播放 mp3, Ogg, wav, CD 音樂。XMMS 提供了 輸出、輸入、音效、視覺四個 PlugIn ，透過這四個 PlugIn 可以播放相當多的音樂格式。可以讓使用者自行換新的外觀。 XMMS 可以直接使用 Linux 的音效支援，也可以支援 4Front 的 OSS 音效。
